In the final months of the First World War, as the gears of the Great War machine grind inexorably to a halt, as the snows thaw, and the troops desert – six stories reach their end. The volunteer, the girl in the blitz; the builder, the tailor, the American objector; the officer who can never live down his mistakes – survivors in a world gone mad.

The true story of the Italian Front, and the lives of those embroiled in it. A story four years in the making, about a disaster one hundred years misrepresented; and a war story for the modern age.

“A haunting piece... Simple staging, but effective as it leaves the focus completely on the language... Stuchfield: splendid.”

Broadway World (other reviewers)

“This intense production... unapologetically puts the humanity front and centre in this tragic tale.”

Alun Hood (What's On Stage)

“Heart-breaking individual histories from the First World War that fail to gel into a satisfying drama.”

Heather Neill (The Stage, Arts Desk)
