I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees!

Inspired by Dr. Seuss’s classic tale, The Lorax tells of a moustachioed and cantankerous critter who’s on a mission to protect the earth from the greedy, tree-chopping, Thneed-knitting businessman known only as The Once-ler.

Blends theatrical invention, songs and zany humour in a vibrant Christmas show with a message that will speak to audiences of all ages.

Music by former Noah And The Whale frontman Charlie Fink

The popular production is back.  (Some reviews are from 2015/16, with previous casts)

Old Vic [Off West End]

“Exhilarating adaptation... Greig has enriched it by making the Once-ler infinitely more than a predatory villain. ”

Michael Billington (The Guardian)

“Contemporary relevance... A stunningly realised piece of family theatre... A breathtaking menagerie... Slick, dynamic direction.”

What's on Stage (Other reviewers)

“Colourful and brilliantly innovative staging of David Greig's adaptation... explodes into a sci-fi industrial nightmare. ”

Michael Coveney (What's on Stage, The Stage, Independent)

“Paisley-Day is enjoyably madcap, but there’s also an appealing note of the tragic hero to him... A puppet is thoroughly winning.”

Andrzej Lukowski (Time Out)

“The best kind of theatrical storytelling for all ages in a spellbinding production that could become a regular fixture
. ”

Mark Shenton (The Stage, Express)

“Great songs... fabulous design, headlong ensemble work, enchanting puppetry... A brilliant Paisley Day... Lump in throat. ”

Libby Purves (TheatreCat, Times)

“Deliriously engaging show, adapted in brilliantly bouncy and mad-with-a-method verse... Recommended for all ages. ”

Paul Taylor (The Independent)

“Joyfully mixes characters of flesh and fabric... Fink’s music is bouncily varied... Straggles into preachines. ”

Susannah Clapp (The Observer)

“Oodles of imagination... Inventive ensemble work by a close-knit cast.”

Arts Desk (other reviewers)

“Tight yet playful rhyme schemes... Manages to keep the lovingly lurid language going... recapturing the dark whimsicality.”

Dominic Maxwell (The Times)

“Paisley-Day: tremendous angular charm and energy... Puppeteers: fantastically skilful at bringing the Lorax into being.”

Caroline McGinn (Time Out)

“A two-and-a-half feet high puppet with a cherishable expression that threads ambiguously between lugubrious and irascible. ”

Fiona Mountford (Evening Standard)

“Fun but eminently disposable... Weird, wacky and stuffed with bouncy comic rhymes... strident in its eco-friendly message. ”

Dominic Cavendish (The Telegraph)

“A spirited, colourful production... Lean, liquid-limbed Paisley Day is perfectly cast... Good touches... Preaching. ”

Quentin Letts (Daily Mail)

“Full of unimpeachably good intentions, the production is fun and frolicsome up to a point, and sometimes simply bewildering. ”

Arts Desk (other reviewers)

“Paisley Day brings an admirably wild energy... there are moments when he’s surprisingly sympathetic... The ensemble is exuberant”

Henry Hitchings (Evening Standard)
