When small-time crooks Micky and Frank start getting sticky fingers, it doesn’t take long for them to be rumbled. Fleeing the psychotic clutches of their boss Morris ’Genuinely Mentally Unwell’ Jackson, they seek a fresh start in the salty air of the Brighton coast. Can they outrun their past, or - much more likely, this - will it catch up with them and rugby tackle them to the ground?
With a script edited by David Quantick (The Thick of It, On the Hour, Harry Hill’s TV Burp), Racketeers is The Awkward Silence’s most ambitious project to date. Every night the cast will swap characters so that by the end of the run, each performer will have played every part - much like Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller in Frankenstein, except that Benedict Cumberbatch won’t be there and no one will be performing Frankenstein.
