Make a Person Laugh Enough Times, You’re Loved Forever

A personal portrait of an iconic comedic entertainer whose public face is all too well known.  But what was Lucille Ball really like and how did she choose to live her life… at the end of her life?  Out of the spotlight?

Based on his memoir, Lee Tannen’s funny, bitter-sweet play reveals the real life Lucy and what is was like being her friend to the end.

Transfers from Jermyn Street after two popular runs in 2016 with Dickinson reprising the role of Lucy.

“Keeps the laughs coming.”

Kate Maltby (The Times)

“Too much time is spent with Scott’s Tannen, recalling moments of his rather dull life... Dickinson is utterly convincing.”

Other newspaper reviewers

“Cantankerous and kind, raucous and commanding, funny and frustrating, Sandra Dickinson as Lucy is the show’s energy source.”

Neil Norman (Express, The Stage)

“Ham-fisted script.. Precious little dramatic tension... Gossipy, mildly catty, ultimately sentimental and overall pretty dull. ”

Alun Hood (What's On Stage)

“If it weren’t so toothless, this biodrama would seem vampiric... Faintly creepy. ”

Sam Marlowe (The Times, The Stage, Time Out, Arts Desk)

“Dickinson is funny and charming... but I couldn’t help agreeing when she said: ‘Lee, stop talking already"... Self-absorbed. ”

Time Out (Other reviewers)

“Limp bioplay... A heroic performance by Dickinson... Scott makes Lee suitably needy and nerdy but never entirely likable.”
