A double bill of Wilson’s early short plays:
In Ludlow Fair we meet two young roommates not quite seeing eye-to-eye whilst looking for love and their place in the world. The play is an intimate study of the inner thoughts of two young women displaying great wit, warmth, and a deep humanity.
Home Free! takes us into the private world of the eccentric Joanna and Lawrence Brown, a couple living in their own fantasy life of elaborate games and imaginary friends, away from the frightening reality of the threatening and unforgiving city outside.
Both were first performed at the legendary Caffé Cino, an incubator for the greatest playwrights, directors, and actors of the 1960s, and these lively, funny, and moving pieces helped kick start the vibrant Off-Off Broadway scene in New York City.
